What is SAF-T?
SAF-T (Standard Audit File – Tax) is a standard format for exchanging accounting data. It was developed jointly by industry organizations, system suppliers and the Tax Administration, following a recommendation from the OECD. The standard format specifies which accounting data is to be exchanged and the structure of the data. SAF-T is now mandatory throughout Europe, with Norway being one of the countries at the forefront of its introduction.
The introduction of the format will make it easier to analyze data and submit accounting material to public authorities. The standard format will also make it easier to perform internal controls in the company and share data with others. In addition, it makes it easier to store accounting information.
